Dorman At Grindtec 2012

The grinding machines and grinding wheels supplied into the UK by Dorman Machine Tools will be well represented at the forthcoming Grindtec event from the 14th to 17th March in Augsburg, Germany, with no fewer than 6 stands.

Gerber are showing their latest range of brush deburring machines used for the deburring and the edge preparation of cutting tool inserts. Another of Dorman’s Principal machine tool suppliers, Magnetfinish, are also showing their range of deburring machines for cutting tools of all types on their stand 1024 in hall 1.

Dorman Machine Tools appointed as the Sole UK Distributors for HandlingTech

Coventry based Dorman Machine Tools Ltd is pleased to announce its new collaboration with the German Automation experts HandlingTech GmbH. Dorman is now the sole UK distributor for HandlingTech who are part of the Hutzel group who employ over 350 people and have a turnover of 40million Euro’s. Dorman’s UK activities will become an intrinsic part of HT’s global network with sales and support centres throughout Europe and further afield in countries such as India and Mexico with exports to over 20 countries worldwide.

Tschudin – When grinding slower is faster

It may sound a little odd but when often confronted by demands for ever faster cycle times; Tschudins reply is often that they will therefore grind slower.

Many centerless grinding applications call for the plunge cut form grinding of small components and Tschudin have developed technological solutions with patented loading systems that allow for multiple parts to be ground at the same time with ease.

Superfinishing Attachments Offer Low Cost Finishing Solutions

Supfina, represented in the UK by Coventry based Dorman Machine Tools, has brought out further additions to its established range of Superfinishing attachments that are used throughout industry as a means of finishing low batches of high precision components.

There are now well in excess of 10,000 of these attachments in use and their versatility means that applications are many but these include the finishing of gear shafts, cam and crankshafts, shock-absorber and steering rods, print, paper and steel working rolls, and indeed any external cylindrical diameter, flat face, sphere such as ball valves or spherical bearings or large bores.

New Haas CA 5-axis Grinding machine for Cutting Tools

Haas Schleifmaschinen, who are represented in the UK and Ireland by Dorman Machine Tools, is now targetting the tool grinding industry with its latest grinding machine, the HAAS CA, that received its world-wide debut at last Septembers IMTS Exhibition in Chicago.

The award winning range of Haas grinding machines have many universal applications and are used across all industries however Haas have long since been leading providers of production grinding machines for rotary cutting tools and profile inserts and the new CA machine is perfect for the manufacture of more complex cutters of all types.

Magnetfinish Technology / Polishing and deburring of parts

Dorman Machine Tools, the sole UK distributors for the Magnetfinish range of machines that have been designed to finish parts to vastly improve tool lifetime and performance under heavy working conditions, has announced the sale of a semi-automatic MF61 machine to a major UK based fuel injection manufacturer.

The application was for the deburring and finishing of a small fuel injection valve pin and Dorman received the order after a series of production tests that were carried out for the customer at Magnetfinishes works in Switzerland.

Record Order Levels for Bahmuller Grinding Machines

Bahmuller, who are represented in the UK by Coventry based Dorman Machine Tools, has announced record sales for 2010 building upon the already new record for 2009. During a period where virtually all other machine tool companies reported a slump in orders, Bahmuller’s sales to the world-wide diesel injection market proved to be so high that more machines were sold during this period than ever before. Whereas there was a small decline in orders from some European customers there was a huge surge of business generated from sales to Chinese diesel injection manufacturers that more than offset this.

Dorman Machine Tools of Coventry are celebrating following a sensational double win at this years MWP awards event for the Haas CB Multigrind Machine. The Haas CB machine that is represented in the UK by Dorman was awarded the trophy for "Best Grinding & Finishing Machine" and then went onto also being awarded the top winner of winners "Grand Prix" trophy as well.

Haas Machines for Aero-Engine Blade Production

Haas Schleifmaschinen of Trossingen, Germany, has announced its plans to exhibit no less than four of its advanced machining platforms at this years Grindtec event that will be held near Munich from the 17th to the 20th of March.

Taking centre stage will be the latest Haas Multigrind® CB machine that is designed for the flexible and universal machining of components such as aero engine turbine blades, blisks and vanes and uniquely allows for the complete machining including all milling, grinding, and production belt linishing operations. By combining all of these major processes in one automatic operation the most flexible solutions are available and as each operation is carried out automatically, and as the aero-engine blades are only clamped once, the highest possible precision is guaranteed. Furthermore the Haas designed automatic tool changer and part loader systems allow for unmanned operation.

Order received for Haas CB Multigrind Machine

Dorman Machine Tools of Coventry, and their Principals Haas Schleifmaschinen of Trossingen, Germany, are celebrating receiving an order valued in the region of £750,000 from a major UK medical component manufacturer for a Haas CB Multigrind machine.

The order that was received in April brings the total number of Haas machines in operation throughout the UK and Ireland to over 20; all of which have been sold within the last few years with Dorman being appointed the sole UK agents for Haas in 2008.

Haas success at Paris Air Show

Apart from the new Airbus A380 and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft another star of the recent Paris Air show at LeBourget was the new Haas Multigrind ® CB Turbine Blade manufacturing centre that received its world-wide debut.

The new Haas Multigrind ® CB machine has been designed to turn, mill, and grind turbine blades and is capable of producing a finish machined blade, right from the solid blank, inclusive of all machining operations, in one fully automated procedure.

Dorman moves into the supply of grinding wheels with Krebs & Riedel

Coventry based Dorman Machine Tools has been appointed as the sole distributor for the Krebs & Riedel range of grinding wheels.

Dorman had previously been selling various high-end cylindrical grinding machines such as the Bahmuller range of internal and external grinding machines that were being imported into the country with Krebs & Riedel wheels and this subsequently lead to the two companies deciding to work together to further promote the grinding wheels here in the UK.
